Philly Area Gas Prices Move Upward

Philadelphia Inquirer -- Phila.-area gas average up 4 cents in a week

INQUIRER STAFF AND ASSOCIATED PRESS

The average price of gas in the five-county Philadelphia area went up 4 cents since last Friday, to $2.81.

South Jersey's average for a gallon of regular no-lead was up 5 cents, to $2.62.

The U.S. average went up 6 cents, to $2.78.

Diesel is costing 2 cents more in Philadelphia and its closest suburban counties, 4 cents more in South Jersey, and 4 cents more in the United States overall.

Oil prices moved above $82 a barrel after the International Energy Agency brightened its outlook for world demand, predicting that a surge in Asian economic activity would make up for a fall in developed countries.

The speculators keep pushing up the price of oil until it kills the economy and puts more people out of work.

Diesel $2.89---UNleaded $2.75 Check out Speedway web site ALWAYS FIRST to jack up across the board on the first day. Then the rest just follow. SAD

I guess I won't be driving to Philadelphia this weekend, I'd rather fly anyway. I wish our gas prices only went up 4 to 5 cents, instead our's goes up 20 to 25 cent each time. They don't mess around, if they're going to get your money they crank the price up big time.

Most stations here are wallowing: up a couple of cents, down a couple of cents every day or two.

Prices have been creeping up here in San Jose.The lowest price I've seen on Regular gas is $2.99/gal, diesel $3.03/gal

The interesting part of the article was the statement on demand in developed countries and Asia: "...a surge in Asian economic activity would make up for a fall in developed countries." The US is not the controlling force in the market as it had been at one time. We'd better get use to not controlling the market the way we once did.

we had a new murphy express in warner robins ga so flash food 6 stations and kroger station have been fighting for market share so for two weeks gas has come down to $2.47 today !!!

The gouging is alive and well. I have to believe that the speculator trash is grinding their ax. That is not to say that big oil is not taking longer to do their spring cleaning of the refineries which should not mean cleaning out their customers. The administration is doing their part by printing funny money with nothing to back it up and spending money we don't have. If it were you or me we would go to jail. Then Detroit has to sit on their butts and let the Asians take the lead in Natural Gas vehicles from the factory. If the Natural Gas Honda Civic were bigger I would buy one. Then people are using more gas and have apparently forgotten all about 2008 prices. If they keep going we will all be reminded of them real quick. I think the collective goal of the suppliers and speculators is to push us to the verge of the breaking point on gas prices and hold us there scalping us forever if the can.

My area gas stations went from $2.76 to $2.85 and 20 miles down the road some places are wanting $2.99.
